The 212 is not louder than the 206.I sailed on a type 206. It was about 1985 we had to watch a manouver of the sovjet navy. We were dived and followed a sovjet cruiser in a distance of about 200 meters. After about half an hour the commander said: "it is to boring, we should do something" and so we gave one loud PING to the cruiser. Suddenly the whole fleet tried to catch us. In the very first minutes they detected us and we dived very fast up and down turned right and left and after some minutes, i guess about 5, they lost the detection and didnt find us the rest of the day.
