The diesel engine room was the hottest, when they had been running normally for several hours, the temperature was about 38°c-40°c (°F 100) in a normal North-Atlantic situation. The compartiments closest to the diesels would have been the same. The further you got to the front to "colder" it became, after several hours, submerged, the whole vessel must have been the same temp.
When the ship was surfaced, with all hatches open, it was pretty much the same as outside (logically).
Of Artic or near-equator environnements, I do not know.
