Mr. Jukka Juutinen;

Here is some more information I found on the MAN engines that were on the Type IXC u-boats.

Two nine-cylinder, supercharged four-cycle MAN diesel engines with salt water cooling are installed on the IXC submarines.

The Type IXC U-Boats had a range of some 11,400 nautical miles. Had a total fuel capacity of some 214 metric tons. I guess its time for some more math.Here goes.

If 1 metric ton is equal to 1000kg then one liter is equal to 0.850. If you take 1000kg and divide by .850l it will equal out to 1176.47 liters per metric ton.

If you take 1176.47 liters X 214 metric tons, that will equal out to 251764.58 liters for a total fuel load.

Now we take 11,400 nautical miles, the range of the Type IXC, and divide that by 2151764.58 liters, the total fuel load, that will give us 0.0452 liters per nautical mile.

I hope this helps you out. Again, if my math is wrong, please someone jump in and correct me on it. Again, I am not sure of my math.
