Well, in fact, in case of german torpedoes and tubes, the gyro angle
(as well as torpdo depth and torpedo speed) was entered by means of
rotatable spindle. Only gyro angle spindle was retracted automatically,
in the moment of torpedo launch. The depth and speed setting spindle
had to be retracted manually. The only cable which was connected to the
torpedo (in case of G7e torpedo), was battery heater power cable, which
also had to be retracted manually.
