RZA Binoculars / ROHRZIELAPPARAT FERNGLAS

Hello
I was wondering if someone can tell me whether the Zeiss (blc) 7 x 50 H binoculars that was apparently used on the Rohrzielapparat (Tube target apparatus) were ever used in place of the UZO / UDF or otherwise on U-Boats.
There are two good articles showing the 7 x 50 H at:

(see photo five).
Both suggest that these were used in schnellboots and other surface vessels. However I have heard anecdotally that they were also used in U-boats. Does anyone know for sure either way?
