The sub which got away was the Nebojsa, which reached Malta and was then employed by the British but does not appear to have been used in combat missions (of this I am not certain)
Smeli was incorporated as Antonio Bajamonti and Osvetnik became Francesco Rismondo in Italian service. Both were refitted at Pola and became training & experimentation boats. At the beginning of 1942 both went to La Spezia for refit, effected some short missions in the Ligurian sea but were soon relegated to training, particularly the new ASW corvettes then entering service, spending most of their time in coastal waters testing new radio antennae (inplace of one periscope), new torpedo firing systems and other machinery.
At the Armistice, Bajamonti (Smeli) was inoperative at La Spezia and was scuttled, Rismondo (Osvetnik) was at Bonifacio (northern Sardinia), where she was bottled up by German troops controlling the exit and captured on 14/9 but only to be scuttled outside the harbor on 18/9.
Hrabri was designated N.3 by the Italians but after survey was declared to be inoperable and scrapped during 1941.
