Attack on MAFALDA by CASABIANCA can be checked in her patrol report (item TTY 106 at Service Historique de la Marine, Vincennes). She was on a secret mission for the 2e Bureau.
Two small Italian vessels were attacked with gunfire and sunk on 3 March 1943 by an unknown submarine near Cape Tindaro (Milazzo) and TURBULENT could well have been the culprit as this was within her patrol area but this would also mean that the submarine had backtracked since her attack on SAN VINCENZO.
Another possibility would be that TIGRIS survived the attack which reportedly sank her (27.02.1943) and managed to sink these two vessels on her way back to Algiers but I am inclined to attribute it to TURBULENT as Linton did not hesitate to use his artillery while Colvin did not use his gun in previous attacks in the Med. Since I do not know of any other attack that can be attributed to TURBULENT, it would seem odd that Linton followed the Italian coast northward without making his presence known.
Of course, if you have any solid information that contradicts above, please let me know.
