<HTML>My ship was HMS Gore which participated in the longest U.boat hunt of the war...3 u-boats sunk including a `mother' U-boat, Others from what I can remember were the `Affleck' (sunk), `Capel' (sunk Dec.26/44 just off the coast of France - she was suspended in the water, with her stern just showing above the water - nothing we could do to help - no signs of survivors - bad timing , it was `grog' time, `Whittaker' on her maiden trip ( torpedo blew off her bows up to the bridge;all crew were in the forward messdeck - crewmembers of the `Gore' boarded to help -no survivors; taken in tow to Londonderry (?)</HTML>
