Today I had a chat with my oldest sister and she has confirmd that Dad was in fact on the Queen Elizabeth when it was mined by Italian frogmen in Alexandria Harbour. She says that the explosion had woke him up, what @#$%& him off even more was that when he jumped out of his bunk he was up to his waist in water.
I would like to thank you all for pointing me in the right direction, helping me to discover the facts about [to a young boy]a humerous story that my father once told.
Only now I can appreciate what war was/is like; from the bravery of those Italians, to the ordinary seamen and loss of the men killed.</HTML>
