My father was Robert Durham (deceased) a petty officer(i believe) in the engine room of Loch Glendhu.He sometimes spoke about being part of aboarding party on U1024.He talked about having to abandon the vessel very quickly and loosing some German binoculars in the process.Although my father never mentioned what happened next,my aunty said some or all of the boarding party were missing for a while,perhaps only an hour or so.
