<HTML>Two articles on Defensively Equipped Merchant Ships appeared in 'Warship' supplement to 'Marine News' recently.
The author, Thomas Adams, indicates that over 9,500 merchant ships were equipped with weapons. There were five 'standards'-

A = single 6 inch & single 3 inch
B = single 4.7 inch & single 12 pdr
C = single 4 inch and single 12 pdr
D = single 12 pdr
E = single 4 inch

he also indicates that by 1943-44 where possible, 20mm Oerlikons were fitted.
