HMCS Owen Sound was built in Collingwood, Ontario. she was a revised Flower Class Corvette ( K340) and did numerous crossings of the Atlantic on convoy duty from Halifax to Londonderry. My father served on board and remembers the rough seas and the food was not great. He remembers well the events of March, 1944 when Owen Sound was given credit for being involved in sinking U- 845. The Owen Sound had spotted the U Boat surfaced following the convoy. Owen Sound had dropped back to protect the California which had engine trouble. My father presented to the city of Owen Sound the white ensign from the ship when he attended a reunion in Owen Sound back in the early nineties. I hope it is hanging prominently. I remember the flag clearly with all the names on it.
