Hi Brian,
My father in Law (Lt RNVR Robert Henley) served on the repair ship HMS Wayland. He passed away from cancer about 18 years ago, but as we were clearing out the family house last week we discovered that he had typed up his years during the war on 4 pages. The bit about the Wayland is as follows;-
"In Jan 1946, I left HMS Ness and joined HMS Wayland (a submarine depot/repair ship based in Trincomalee) to await demob.. I spent 5 months on board (general duties) and finally returned to the UK for demob. in June 1946."
Not much, but I hope this help you.
Regards,
Nick
