my father stoker petty officer ernest albert lines together with able seaman abraham patterson proudfoot and ordinary seaman alexander blyth were awarded the british empire medal for bravery and resource during the action in dec 1941. the ship was sunk in the mediteranean sea in1943 my father survived but was in the sea for sometime before rescue by a spanish vessel. he had swallowed a considerable quantity of water contaminated with oil contracted tuberculosis and sadly died after the war.it would be nice to hear from anyone who has any furthe information on any memebers of the crew .ihave a letter somewhere which indicates that my father attended the funeral of crew members in pembrokeshire perhaps the contents will be of interest when i find it.
