Mercantile Marine - the cost

I think you may be wrong about the US having lost more lives than any of the allies, at least in terms of merchant navy losses.
[www.usmm.org] - generally regarded as a reliable source gives a US Merchant Marine loss of 9,512 war dead (kias, POWs and men who died ashore) during the Second World War
The Commonwealth War Graves Commission records over 32,000 men of the British Mercantile Marine who died during the same period
Anyway the stats are irrelevant lets face it. Loss makes a mockery of percentages - and they were ALL great guys !
