Your dad probably found my diary that was among the wreckage of the PC 1128. I still have it. I had written quite a bit of information about what had happened after I was assigned to the ship in early 1945. I wrote about clearing the mines before the invasion and even the trip among the first ones of ships into Japan that including the PC 1128.
I was one of 5 survivors picked up by a Norwegian freighter headed for the Philipines. I believe that I must have been in the water for about 69 hours Sometime during the 1970 I received a call from a survivor of another group of 7. Charles McVey who was in my group lived in California and went into a Chev. agency in Whittier Calif. He discovered that the owner was also a survivor and was among a group of 7. He didn't know about our group.
I have three telegrams that were sent to my family in New Wilmington, PA. The first one said I was missing at sea, the second one told that I was lost at sea and the 3d one, ten days after the first and said I was found and would be contacting them soon. I would appreciate knowing about anything that your father found that might be of interest to me or my family.
I came to Kansas in 1948 to attend college and have lived here since then. I will soon be 85 years old and in very good health for a man my age. I worked for the VA hospital in Topeka and continued my swimming as a RMS aquatics therapist working with paraplegics and mental patients until I retired about 20 years ago.
