Jane

Swiftsure was a cruiser, built on the Tyne in 1943. see:
[uboat.net]

Completing in June 1944 she was sent to the Far East, to join the British Pacific Fleet. In March to May 1945 part of the screening forces for aircraft carriers attacking Sakashima Gunto / Okinawa; during this time they came under regular kamikaze attack; in June 45 bombarded Truk. In July 45 at Sydney.
In August 1945 led British Task Force to enter Hong Kong harbour, accepting formal surrender of Japanese forces there on 16.9.45

I have no info. on her going on to Japan, but she remained part of the Pacific Fleet until mid-1946. She returned to England in August 1946.
She remained in service until scrapped in 1962
