My father Leonard Hammond was the First Lieutenant on HMS Swiftsure, and was the leader of the Naval Escort which took the scientists into Nagasaki shortly after the blast. He also took photographs, showing the desruction. He died of leukaemia in 1983, and the MOD visited him shortly beforehand and took the photos away, and asked whether we intended to sue the MOD. He replied that he considered he was dying for his Country. I saw the photographs several times, and can vouch for the fact that HMS did indeed visit Nagasaki.
