<HTML>Due to Spindler she was sunk by U 44's deck gun, probably "V 30" means that the bow shot, a warning shot to make the steamer stop, from the deck gun hit the water 30 metres in front of the bow. 30 may stand for 30 metres and "V" for "von" which means "in front of"
