While waiting for a reply to my inquiry about a Midshipman's research into the location of the September 6, 1918 attack on a troopship by a submarine which may well have been UB 87.
The nine subchasers which subsequently attacked the U-boat were operating out of Devonport (Plymouth), I doubt if their sub-hunting patrol area extended as far north as the Isle of Skye.
The Latitude I mentioned earlier, N57 20 appears in the U. S. Navy's "History of the Submarine chasers in the World War." (1920). This must be a typographical error, for as you pointed out, it is too far North. I should have checked. Mea Culpa.
Although I can't read or speak German, I did recognize a reference to St. George's Channel. Now that is more likely to be the case.
