The nine American sub chasers that attacked UB 87 were operating out of Devonport (Plymouth) on the south coast of England. This seems to be too far North, as pointed out by JP.

The Latitude I gave, N57 20 appears in the Navy's "History of the Submarine Chasers in the World War" (1920). I should have checked it. Mea Culpa.

Thw War Diary of UB 87 mentions aome action in St. George's Channel. That seems to be more likely. That is near the Scilly Islands. I am waiting for a full translation of the War Diary for September 6, 1918 from the original German to English.

Stay tuned.
