John,
I have been researching the sinking of a ship on which my wife's Grandfather was Captain in the same area as "Pegu" a year earlier, and because I am unable to visit London, employed a professional researcher who has uncovered several very interesting documents relating to the incident.
These pros. charge around £20 - £25 an hour, but because they know where and what to look for, can uncover quite a lot of detail in 4/5 hours. The National Archives at Kew will supply you with a list of researchers on request.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Ray.
