Hi Bruce & Michael,

Altenfels became Eastern Prince in 1920 and Stolzenfels in 1926. She was taken over by the Kriegsmarine as Sperrbrecher 12 and mined & sunk 5/3/41 off Schiermonnikoog, Frisian Islands (Note that one source gives the date as 1/8/40).

Another Altenfels was built in 1925: she was a ship of 8132 tgr and was torpedoed and sunk 4/6/43 by HM MTBs 620 and 626 in Korsfjord, near Bergen.

The mess probably arises if Bruce has 1/8/40 and 5/3/41 for the loss of Stolzenfels/Sperrbrecher 12 and 4/6/43 for Altenfels (2nd).

Regards, Brian
