Has anyone any information on the following four U-boat commanders who died early in life, perhaps before their time?
Kptlt Gerhard Behn, SMU 16. Born 30.3.1888 Died 6.11.1927
Kptlt Egon v. Bentheim, SMUB 79. Born 28.11.1889 Died 23.4.1919.
Oblt.z.S. Ernst Berlin, SMUB 114. Born 27.7.1889 Died 5.9.1927.
Oblt.z.S. Reinhard Berninghaus, SMUC 54. Born 5.12.1889 Died 15.3.1928.
I could presume that the 2nd one died of the 1918 flu pandemic which was sweeping Europe and other parts of the world at the time.
The other three were all under the age of 40 and, perhaps, could have lived a lot longer.
Many thanks for any replies in advance
Regards
