Hi Simon,
I believe it is because officers who only commanded school/training U-boats, like Oblt.z.S. Fritz Dönitz are not included. Neither are the pre-war commanders included like Kptlt. v. Boehm-Bezing SMU 1, the very first U-boat commander. There is also no mention of the commanders of SMU 2,3,4. I think that they should be included especially the commander of SMU 3 who was the first U-boat commander lost with his boat.
It is rather sad because the two forums do not run in sync.
In the WW2 forum Admirals Godt and v. Friedeburg as pre-war commanders are mentioned as is
Hermann Michahelles
Born on 11 Jan, 1909.
Crew 27. Kapitänleutnant (1 Oct, 1936)
Died on 30 Jul, 1937, Haunstetten, Augsburg.
Commands:
U-2, U-35
Even commanders who did no war patrols are included.
I personally would like to see them all included and have mentioned things in the past but it seems that some of them are not recognised *sigh*
Hope you are well,Best Wishes
