About all I know re the SS Dunelm was that she left North Sydney, Nova Scotia Oct 15, 1915 with a load of iron or steel for Manchester. She was last seen/heard from when passing Cape Race, Newfoundland on Oct 17, 1915 and was officially declared missing Jan 12, 1916 - no news in between those dates. it is quite conceivable that she sank in an Atlantic Ocean storm but I did want to check out the possibility of a u-boat involvement because there were some family stories that indicated as much.
Just curious as to why you would say she was not considered a war loss? Is it because there is no record of her being sunk by enemy action?
