The Magazine published in catalan language in Badalona City and called “GENT NOVA” (new people) in its edition of Saturday 19 May 1917 This article published on page 7
DISCOVERY IN TO SEA. this Tuesday ( 05/15/1917 ) fishermen in our city just a few miles from the coast met a large amount of mineral oil in barrels that were carrying in their boats, leaving them deposited on the beach .
Immediately alerted to the discovery Assistant Navy, who ordered the evening being suspended until the next day unloading barrels , according to the fishermen there were in considerable quantity . Just came on to say that 250 barrels of mineral oil , grease and gasoline cans downloaded . On Wednesday it continued when the operations , in the evening , as they were nearly 600 barrels the downloaded .
It can be said that all the boats go by downloading barrels in Badalona , saying people from Barcelona also make the recollection with boats and Vaporetto’s.
The authority of the Navy, which remained available to the barrels , take note of the number in each boat carrying .
This event has been the subject of all conversations in our city, in the sense assumptions were that the barrels are not from a certain english steam torpedoed by a german submarine, which for quite some time happens too often in the proximity of our coasts.
Was observed in some barrels of water had not yet removed the words : Standart Oil Campany , New Jersey Manchester SpendieOil 400 Flasch , Ded Engine Oil.
Our beach has hence the appearance of a dock. A large crowd , especially in the evening fold factories , went to see the large extended downloaded barrels , which are guarded by guards .
Also a boat towed a boat, wich in the stern bore the following inscription : Ssharpagus London .

best wishes

Quim
