Hi Guys,

David Hepper in his book "British Warship Losses in the Ironclad Era 1860-1919"
does not identify the lighter saying only "an old sailing vessel converted to a
military lighter from Alexandria to Milo". The attack took place at 32'42"N
28'25"E. The Mareud.com site names the lighter as L1. Hepper also says the
lighter was hit by gun several times. No question the lighter was damaged. But
what do we call her and what was her tonnage? I've had no joy trying to
identify the lighter and I've been trying for a very very long time.

Perhaps Oliver can identify the lighter next time he's in London? :)

Respectfully,

Joe R
