Submarine commanders relieved for stress?

Gibson and Prendergast mention how the crew of a boat which underwent a severe depth charge attack were given special leave to settle their nerves.

Have read of how some hastily trained crewmen later in the ware were paralyzed by fear.

Any commanders relieved, temporarily or permanently, due to the effects of stress?
