There is of course but only 1 bow on a U-boot/ship.But 2 … on a catamaran ;-)
I don’t think this means « I see and conquer », but it is rather a very old tradition by the sea-going people. Sailors are superstitious, and painting an « eye » on front of their ships, means the eye of God, which should look for their security and save travel. Even a white-painted « triangle » on a modern fishing-boat is a symbol of this eye.
During WW1, many of the subs of the Flanders Flotilla for instance, had such an « eye »; this brings luck.
