Hello
Georg Gerth was the commander of UC61 which stranded on the French coast at Wissant on 26 July 1917. The crew all got ashore, gave themselves up, and later that day were marched off to Calais Citadel.

I have a French source that says that Gerth was held at Boyardville (not Fort Boyard - abandoned in 1913), Ile d'Oleron (near the mouth of the Gironde). Gerth was released in March 1920. I have not yet found any record of Boyardville as an officer's PoW camp, but it does seem to have been a French torpedo school.

I have two questions here:

1 Has anyone come across Boyardville or has a suggestion of where to start looking for information and for prison records?
2 Is 1920 a normal release date? Just seems like he was held a bit long.
