<HTML>Hi all
I would tend to keep an open mind on this subject. Mistakes in books and indeed original documents are possible, as I have recently found out whilst researching For my forth coming book on Operation Deadlight.
The Two U-boats I am concerned with are U-739 and U-992, reportedly sunk by the R.A.F. and by gunfire respectively. This is shown not only on this site but also in Wynn's books and many others. Also official documents show this to be so! But since I am writing about Operation Deadlight I delved a lot more than possibly normal researches have and have come up with the Commanders reports on the operation and it clearly shows that these U-boats were sunk by H.M. Submarine Tantivy in differant positions. Now as a researcher who do I believe bearing in mind that both are official documents. I tend to side with the Commanders reports as they are very precise and discriptive of the events concerned.
The point I am trying to make is that even offcial documentation can be wrong so every researcher has to keep an open mind wreck diver or not.
Best of Luck with your find Luc. I am sure you will keep us all informed.
