Built by Germania Werth, Kiel.Keel laid 7/9/43,launched 8/6/44.Commissioned 8/7/44. Sunk 16/4/45, just NW of Lands End.Served with 5TH Flotilla Kiel July 44,Feb 45.{AB] 11th Flotilla Bergen March 45,16/4/45{FB].Commanded by KL Karl Stephan.July-44-16/4.45.4/3/45 left Kiel and arrived Horten 9/3/45. 11/3/45 left for British coastal waters.En route to the English Channel boat was diverted to an area 200/300 miles west of the western entrance of the channel.In early April moved eastwards. On the 16th U-1063 was attempting to attack convoy TBC 128 off Lands end, when she was detected by frigate HMS Loch Killin.Boat was sunk by her after depth charging. Of the crew, the commander and 28 men were lost, 17 others were picked up and made prisoner, of whom 6 were wounded.Insignia was galleon in sheild.
