<HTML>Dear All,
While going through Set D of the U 995 photos elsewhere in the site, I came across a picture showing machine scales, speed in knots and engine revolutions. What struck me was that, apparently, a type VII U-boat couldn't move backwards while running on electric power, as there are no relevant indicators. If this were so, then it was an added hindrance in evading destroyer attacks.
I should also like to ask about the boats' chronometres: where was the main one located, how many were there and how were they regulated?
Every qualified answer would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Io</HTML>
