<HTML>Terry,
Good post mate - I never knew about the killings aboard, though French hostility to the British after what happened in Algeria (to their fleet under the guns of the British ) was still a hot potato. Even today, Emilie's step-father ( who is a Major in the French Army ) disdainfully refers to the RN as 'murderers'. Memories don't fall off even after all this time and he is too young to remember it!
I'd be really interested in the third piece. I did see the sonar scans of CA-35 and it looks like she has two guns mounted fore and aft of the conning tower (in turrets) - but with digital enhancing being what it is they could have been 'added' to increase interest? She does, however, remain a big bulky object.
Emi says hi, BTW.
Spill the beans, GTerry - or I'll go gulpers on your tot at Folkestone!
