That's the scan I saw. I think - having read an earlier post in this thread that said the injunction was against - not by - the US Navy that the mystery of the sub is tied in with a need for finance. They want to look at it - but they want the glory that will come whether she is the Surcouf or The Black Knight. The USN would have no financial restrictions on kit or money!
I meant to say that the ability of even a modest home computer can be put to use to doctor documents and photographs with a good paint programme. Whilst we have the side scan, could they not have been added to add to the mystery? If the sub was then ever closer looked at and no turrets found.....?
Whatever, it is an eduring mystery. Half of me would love to believe that CA 35 is indeed the Black Knight whilst the other half tells me that whatever she is, she has a story to tell.
