<HTML>For what it's worth, in the video on the making of the film Das Boot, which is part of the Director's Cut DVD, Wolfgang Petersen explains that Beck's was the official beer of the U-Boats. He went on to say that several people thought they had caught the props department out in an anachronism because the beer bottles in the movie look "too modern," but that in fact the design on the bottle has not changed since the war.
