Our Uncle Henry (who has recently received the Arctic Star and Ushakov Medals from the Russian Authorities) served in the Royal Navy. We asked if he celebrated VE Day in London but he was in Derry receiving the surrender of German u-boat fleets. He particularly remembers taking U-776 to Plymouth and that it was then taken down the Thames for display in London. We are trying to put all his "recollections" in order for display in a museum in Russia, to do with the arctic convoys.
