Don't forget that Vichy French gunners exacted revenge of sorts when they damaged Royal Navy warships at Dakar, Senegal, in 1940, forcing Britian and the Free French to beat a hasty retreat from this West African French colony which the Free French intended to 'liberate' in 1940.</HTML>
