Hi Joe

Believe me it IS Le Tiger. Le Tigre is no printer error; it's just a common mistake and you'll notice that uboat.net has recently changed the spelling too. See - www.uboat.net/allies/warships/ship/6394.html

So many otherwise good sources get the spelling perhaps wrong due to the French sounding 'Le'? I wouldn't be surprised if your reference was Clay Blair's Hitler's U-Boat War, as his book seems to be the main culprit! Le tiger has even been called the French Armed Yaught Le Tigre!

I in touch with two veterans that served on HMS Le Tiger and I am currently in the process of writing a piece on the sinking of U-215 by the armed trawler.
