Eric, Jeff Taylor, et al:

Kapitanleutnant Fritz Steinhoff, CO of U-873 was buried at Fort Devens, MA on 5/24/45.

Most know the story how he got there......

Jeff Taylor stated on 6/12/04 that he is a ".......frequent visitor to the
military cemetery at Ft. Devens; there are 20 graves of Italians and Germans, and one U-boat commander." (This undoubtedly is
Fritz Steinhoff's grave)

There are usually fresh flowers on his grave. He also states: "I have noticed that someone is taking extra care of it beyond what
other German graves get, always. In this case a large wreath on the grave; perhaps he has relatives over here."

Maybe some member of this forum has the answer.
