Hi, my name is Waltraud Goodwin, geb. Bork. My mother's brother was Herbert Drewello and received the "Deutsche Kreuz in Gold", and another award.
Yes, I do know why he received it. He died of Leukemia on the 14.10.1995.
Perhaps you could write to me. I now live in Australia, and I do speak German.
I have been trying to trace his son, who was also Herbert!
