There was no rank of Kapitaen in the German Army. A US Army Captain equivalent was a Hauptmann in Germany. Am not familiar with equivalent ranks in the SS, only remember they had a lot of -Fuehrer, like in Gruppenfuehrer, Obergruppenfuehrer etc. Equivalent ranks theorhetically had parity throughout the German Armed forces. However, it was not considered to be a good idea to tick off a SS officer because of party connections.
