Thanks for the picture. I enjoy seeing WWII period magazines and newspapers from all sides. It helps get the feeling of things as they were then and that is necessary in order to understand what happened and how it could happen.

Of course all sides used propaganda. How else are you going to get an otherwise decent 19-year old kid fired up enough to hack someone to death with an entrenching tool? Should you tell him his enemy is really a nice guy with a family; I think not. War is just a nasty business all around. I think most people who fight in a war end up realizing that what they were fighting for at the end of the war was not what they thought they were fighting for when the war started. Propaganda is just a tool that can be used equally for good and evil.

I for one appreciate your putting this picture on the forum. Perhaps we have all learned something from the discussion provoked by it.
