This is the place to discuss general issues related to the U-boat war or the war at sea in WWII.
My two cents...

<HTML>I am in no way taking sides, and in no way mean to offend or disrespect
anyone. But I have to add that I find it hard to believe U.S. troops did
that kind of stuff in the Gulf War. I like to think that we Americans
are above that type of stuff but hey in any group you have morons right!!
Now as far as grave robbing goes I look at it like this. The Germans as
a general rule treated our P.O.W.s okay. Now you have the japanese on
the other hand who where very cruel to the P.O.W.s and civilians alike so
while I don\'t agree with grave robbing I can tolerate it after all the heinous
acts they commited.
Now I have not been in the military either (actually leaving in few months
for the army hope to go airborne) but I have the utmost respect for
Men in uniform no matter what color, race, etc. But if you commit
atrocites (sp) you kind of bring it on yourself don\'t you.
Now as far as marines go in the Pacific they rightly deserve ALL
their credit and glory. They rightly deserve it and I would never
be-little them. But the Army actually made more amphibous assaults than
the Marines did. I am sure the marines had more casualtys but you can\'t
deny the army was there.
Two books I just reread for the second time are \"Prisoners Of the Japanese\"
by Gavin Dawes and the \"American Heritage New History of WW2\"
By Stephen Ambrose. I have also read the original text by C.L. Sulzberger.
Like I said this is my opinion and I post it with utmost respect to veterans here
and and the ones I know. (Dad, Grandad, Uncle.)</HTML>
