Right, thanks. Yes, what you mentioned is about all that I know of the real event. I hadn't heard the ships may have been scuttled though.

I am curious about what the particulars are, concerning the raid. The Hollywood film had the raiders pretend to be intoxicated British businessmen on a weekend getaway of sorts (having even doused themselves with whiskey)...seemingly boarding the Ehrenfels as a prank. But how harmless could that appear, as they had to pilot a moderately-sized craft out into the harbor to get to the ships, and then they boarded with pistols, automatic weapons, etc.??

I found that tactic not very believable. And I wonder how the CLH actually pulled things off. Apparently U-boat sinkings dropped off in the area after the raid, so there must have been some success. I may just have to get the book!?
