<HTML>The RAF considered German air/sea rescue aircraft and boats legitimate targets and attacked them regularly. Hospital ships were also attacked, especially in the later stages of the war. I myself have seen motion pictures of US navy gunners picking off Japanese sailors in the water. You can make excuses for Allied operational commanders if you want, but indefensible acts like these (which would have DEFINITELY been prosecuted as war crimes had the perpetrators been German) do give one suspicions about the Roper incident. </HTML>
