Yeah, you are one smart cookie Paul. I thought I alone was the only person to make the link with U-852 on the Somali coast and radiation poisoning.

It could have been one of my posts that you read previously as I have said it online at one or two other forums.

The big Boxing Day Tsunami of 2004 in my opinion lifted radioactive waste from the U-852's wreck onto the shore. The whole area is controlled by warlords and Al Qaeda is active in that area too. I did even consider linking these facts for a speculative novel.

It is not a hoax. There definitely has been reports of radiation poisoning in the same vicinity as U-852's wreck.

Uranium ore is 0.7% radioactive and gives off radon gas which will kill people without breathing apparatus.

When first reported it was blamed on dumping of spent nuclear fuel by wealthy nations however one has to question that claim. Most wealthy nuclear nations abide by AEC protocols. There are also pirates there who attack cruise liners far out to sea with automatic weapons.

If it were spent fuel then there would be traces of Plutonium and radioactive Ceasium etc. Soil analysis from the contaminated site would soon establish whichever is the case. If it were Uranium ore that would be proved by analysis.

If one wished to prove the shipments of uranium one could find the wreck of the U-180 near the Gironde Estury of France. U-180 set out with U-195 for Djakarta in 1944, but never left shallow waters.
