<HTML>I guess that the IX was used in a much more advanced stage of the war and therefor less well adapted to deal with the even more advanced Allied ASW. Had the VII been launched in equal numbers as the IX, at the same time, I suspect they would have suffered more losses than the IX.</HTML>
