<HTML>Hi Ken,

I can\'t say for all neutral ships sunk, but all Dutch ships sunk by U-boats between September 3 1939 and May 1940 were not sailing in convoy, nor were they helping the British ( as far as I can tell ). Basically, the German \"Prisenordnung\" stated that neutral ships were to be seached, and when the cargo was mentioned in the list of contrabands, it was allowed to sink the ship. However, I wasn\'t talking about these instances here. There were a number of Dutch ships sunk, which were a) not heading for an Allied port b) not carrying contraband c) not doing anything pro-British whatsoever.

Your answer made me curious. Do you have any idea where these \"shoot-on-sight\"-areas were ? </HTML>
